JENNIFER WILCOVE
110 In the Shade: "Providing expert vocal support as the Three Point townspeople were Jackie Cox, Rob Hoyt and Jennifer Wilcove." (Stage Scene L.A, Stanley, 2013)
Kismet: "A dozen supremely talented musical theater triple-threats...joined forces this past weekend...Jennifer Wilcove, Ayme Olivo, Amy Glinskas have tremendous fun bringing assorted princesses and slaves to hilarious blonde, brunette, and redheaded life." (Stage Scene L.A, Stanley, 2013) Sweeney Todd: "...A vocally and dramatically gifted ensemble...getting vocally inspired performances from leads and featured performers alike...Sweeney Todd makes this quite possibly Candlelight Pavilion’s most eclectic—and overall satisfying—seasons ever." (Stage Scene L.A., Stanley, 2013) How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying: "Under John LaLonde’s pizzazzy direction, a cast of Candlelight regulars and newbies deliver one splendiferous performance after another...with terrific support from Micetich’s Mr. Bratt and Wilcove’s Miss Jones, the latter of whom skats to the skies in “The Brotherhood Of Man.” (Stage Scene L.A, Stanley, 2016) Addams Family: “Wilcove shrinks into gray-haired Granny’s grizzled skin to delightful effect...Like The Rocky Horror Show and The Little Shop Of Horrors before it, The Addams Family’s mix of the hilarious, the tuneful, and the macabre makes it the ideal October/November show. At Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theatre, it makes for an especially scrumptious Halloween season treat. (Stage Scene L.A., Stanley, 2018) |
Sweeney Todd: "Candlelight scores big with Sweeney Todd...presenting the masterwork for the first time (and)...let me tell you, they may be exceedingly proud of this production, as it replicates just about everything that the original achieved. Every detail, every move and every musical beat are in line. With a superlative cast and expert direction this Sweeney Todd is about as good as it gets....Brisk choreography...and the 11 member ensemble are just sensational. Bravo!" (Broadway World, Grigware, 2013)
Smoke On the Mountain: "The cast...are all vibrantly talented. It's a motley group who...combine musical talents to form a colorful bluegrass orchestra, with guitar, bass, banjo and even including harmonica and a washboard. Each has his shining moment in the spotlight. One of the funniest is Wilcove as mother Vera when she talks about a June bug falling aimlessly into her lemonade. She then proceeds to make a little allegory about one kind of bug that has no direction and another who hangs from a thread woven by Jesus - "a thread to the backlegs of our souls". You have to see her re-enactment of it to appreciate the craziness." (Broadway World, Grigware, 2015) Hunchback of Notre Dame: "A full 31 voice chorus is onstage throughout, providing backup and superior interludes of religious music in the score...Every kyrie eleison exuded by the resounding chorus moved me to tears...Hunchback is a feast for the eyes, ears and the soul...With the chorus strategically placed on two tiers stage left and right, their miraculous sound becomes a steady evocation/reaction of God in all its joy and sorrow, as witness to all the errant behavior. If only the walls of Notre Dame Cathedral could talk, this is what we would hear!" (Broadway World, Grigware, 2016) Bonnie and Clyde: “This production is an absolute joy to watch with a sparkling cast and stellar direction by Victor Hernandez...We are left with an almost poetic image of the two that shows humanity as good as well as evil. Candlelight's production values are top-notch and on a par with the original production.” (Broadway World, Grigware, 2018) Addams Family: "Wilcove completes the affable Addamses as the deliciously feisty Grandma...the darkly fascinating script takes fantasy to a more realistic level, making it even more of a curiosity to watch an atypical family try to function in a so-called normal world. But define normal, please! In today's world, it no longer exists, so I loved seeing the creepy Addams clan accepted as the friendly neighbors next door.” (Broadway World, Grigware, 2018) |
Bonnie and Clyde: “The Candlelight Pavilion’s honest and dramatic depiction gets it right...Director Victor Hernandez, an original Broadway cast member of “Bonnie & Clyde”...ensures his performers maximize each spoken word and lyric... (e.g., “You’re Goin’ Back To Jail,” which features memorably funny quips by Jennifer Wilcove’s ‘Trish’)...Finally, Michael Lanning, who originated the Preacher on Broadway, returns to his roots...as the ensemble parishioners raise their arms with holy intentions and to simultaneously symbolize being at the mercy of a gun-drawing Clyde. Without a doubt, “Bonnie & Clyde” was a chance worth taking for the Candlelight Pavilion...the highly adept cast have collaborated on a production that is unabashedly frank in underscoring how powerful love truly can be.” (LA Excites, Jalali, 2018)
Addams Family: “Jennifer Wilcove humorously depicts the inscrutable Grandma, who, despite being 102 years old and shriveled in stature, has a very vivid imagination and still runs her own one-woman apothecary...Indubitably, “The Addams Family” musical is another marvelously worthwhile entry in the Candlelight Pavilion’s anthology of entertainment..This production is highly recommended because, under the guise of dark comedy and the strange witticisms, there is the comforting notion that in life or in death, in harmony or in discord, family is forever.” (LA Excites, Jalali, 2018) |
"Supporting roles were exemplary by all cast members...In the show’s most amusing number “You’re Goin’ Back to Jail”; sung with a gorgeous Dolly Parton-esque warble...along with the women in Blanche’s hair salon, Stella, Trish and Eleanore, it has become a most anticipated number in the show..The talent that has been accumulated for this show is quite incredible and every actor on stage is a featured role with crowning moments. I think part of that was due to the creativity of our fantastic director, Victor, as well as the cast including an extraordinary number of Broadway people and heavily experienced actors on-board.” (The Show Report, Daniels, 2018) |
42nd St: “Jon Engstrom, once the dance captain for the original 1980 Broadway staging of the backstage musical, directs and choreographs with pizzazz and a great feel for the show's big, boisterous tap numbers. Others make strong impressions, too –Jennifer Wilcove as the wisecracking, seen-it-all writer Maggie Jones.” (San Diego Union Tribune, James Herbert, 2009)
|
42nd St: “Its stock characters include a hard-as-nails director, a sassy songwriting team, an over-the-hill star and a young ingenue who arrives in New York...Adding comic relief are Jennifer Wilcove and Justin Robertson, a great pair of physical comedians as the songwriting team Maggie and Bert." (NCT, Pam Kragen, 2009)
Crazy For You: "Starlight opens its 62nd season with peppy 'Crazy For You'…Jennifer Wilcove and Joey Minnich give a comical portrayal as the travel writers, Patricia and Eugene Fodor." (North County Times, 2008) |
"Sweeney Todd is my favorite Sondheim musical but I hardly expected a production in a dinner theatre, a wonderful one at that, to put on one of the best productions of the musical that I have seen. As my companion said, he wouldn’t have been disappointed if this had been presented on a Broadway stage." (Stage Happenings, Robert Machray, 2013) |
Big River: “'It’s always a pleasure to work with such a well-rounded ensemble of cast members,' states Assistant Producer Mindy Teuber. 'These actors have allowed the adoring characters to truly melt your heart as you see the story unfold,' she further states." (IE News, 2009) Cinderella: "Candlelight Pavilion’s new show is everything a classic fairy tale should be: magical, entertaining, and humorous, with lots of fun music...But much of the enjoyment I derive from this show is watching Cinderella’s oppressors — her Stepmother. (Fontana Herald, 2011) “Jennifer Wilcove is one of those rare actresses that can play any role. She is constantly re-inventing herself. Not only that, but she sings and dances with amazing control and beauty. She is professional, dedicated, punctual, and consistent. I would never hesitate to hire Jennifer, she is a joy to work with!” (John LaLonde, Artistic Director) "Jennifer is a highly-skilled professional who contributed greatly to a production of "My Fair Lady" that I musically directed. Her attention to detail in every area--vocally, character development, precision of movement, etc.--was consistent throughout rehearsals as well as the seven-week run of the show. And as an added plus, she is lots of fun to have around!" (Julie Lamoreaux, Music Director) |
Hunchback of Notre Dame: "The full choir is placed high aloft on either side of the stage, which stays...the entire time, adding awe inspiring melodic luminosity to the already lush, emotionally rich score and sumptuous choral arrangements...'What makes a monster and what a man?' asks the choir at the outset. Whatever you might be expecting, comic, tragic or otherwise, the answer goes way beyond it! In fact, we're just sorry a thunderous standing ovation was the only thing the audience could give at the production's final curtain!" (Bucking Trends, L. Buck, 2016)
|
" The project benefits from the efforts of composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz who created the music and words for Disney’s animated film of Hugo’s tale, the basis for the musical...The show is full of fine voices, from the choral groups that chime in from raised platforms over the bell tower to individuals who grasp the emotions of their roles...(Ventura County Star, Rita Moran, 2018).
|
"Menken/Schwartz fans can rejoice that almost all of the film's original songs remain including "Out There", "Someday" and "God Help the Outcasts"...many of them backed by the celestial harmonies of an onstage choir...the musical's new songs prove memorable as well..." (Stage Scene L.A, Steven Stanley, 2018). |
"Devastatingly beautiful in both music and design, the revamped stage musical adaptation of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME...is a remarkably ambitious theatrical hybrid of Victor Hugo's original classic...(it) basks in the epic and aural richness akin to big-budget Broadway productions. Better still-...the show also generously incorporates a 32 member ad-hoc backing chorus hovering above in loft areas on either side of the set. Their bombastic vocal bursts, combined with the ensemble cast and full-bodied orchestra...all produce huge, cathedral like wall of sound. It's quite thrilling when they come together..." (Onstage Blog, Noah Golden, 2016)

"With bells ringing, 5-Star Theatricals’ production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” made its debut April 20 in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Kavli Theatre, delivering a deliciously vibrant blend of tragedy and opulence...Five-Star’s brilliantly mounted production is enhanced by director Misti B. Wills’ imaginative direction, chorus master Laura Dickinson’s masterful work with the onstage choir (monks situated in elevated pews on either side of the stage), Dan Redfield’s superb pit orchestra, and Michelle Elkin’s scintillating choreography"
(The Acorn, Cary Ginell, 2018). |
Jennifer Wilcove was a joy to work with this summer in the production of '42nd Street' I directed & choregraphed for Moonlight Theater. She was my 'Maggie Jones'. Usually, I go with a more mature actress for that role but her acting & vocal skills made her perfect for the part! She takes direction beautifully and she also 'brings to the table' a large trove of her own creativity. She has great comedic skills and she really made the role her own. I can't wait to work with her again!" (Jon Engstrom, Director and Choreographer, Original Cast Member and Dance Captain of "42nd St." on Broadway) |
“Jennifer Wilcove brings both incredible talent and inspiring dedication to her work. One would be hard pressed to find another performer with the skill she has coupled with such an incredible work ethic. She is a pleasure to work with both as an artist and as a professional.” (Mick Montgomery, Writer/Director, Actor's Workout Studio)

“A special thanks to my leading lady. She really did such a great job. She should be proud of herself & the joy she brought to so many.” (Terry Barto, Director and Choreographer, "Little Witch of Wichita", Geffen Playhouse) “This is one talented lady who's a total professional too! It was great working with her.” (Kevin Kaufman, Composer, "Little Witch of Wichita") |
"Jennifer is a wonderfully professional, funny, smart, and incredibly talented woman. She is a very flexible performer, who always shows up on time, and does what is asked of her with a great attitude." (Crystal Barron, Director and Producer, "Definitely Dickens Holiday Carolers", Disneyland Theme Parks, Downtown Disney) |
"Jennifer Wilcove brings her positivity and passion to every room and stage she graces. She is a fantastic company member and a joy to work with." (Aaron Galligan-Stierle, former company member of Broadway's "Phantom of the Opera", "Ragtime", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", international company member of "Cinderella", Professor at New York Film Academy and recurring director/performer of Utah Shakepeare Festival)
